If only Republicans didn't hate themselves so much....

…gays and lesbians might have all the rights they deserve by now.

Republican California Senator Roy Ashburn was a fierce opponent of gay rights, was fighting marriage equality and organizing anti-gay marriage rallies as part of his “Traditional Family Values” campaign.

This is juicy.

Late one night this week officers saw him weaving and driving erratically in downtown Sacramento, and after he failed a sobriety test, he was arrested and jailed, and his state car impounded.

He issued a sincere apology for drinking and driving, saying “I accept complete responsibility for my conduct and am prepared to accept the consequences for what I did”.  Oh, well handled Ashburn.

Then, Wednesday night, CBS reported that “sources” confirmed that Ashburn had been partying at Faces, a gay nightclub in downtown Sacramento, and had left the club with an unidentified young man who was in the car with him at the time of his arrest.

Maybe he didn't realize it was a gay club...
