New job fields cropping up in this wintry economic climate!

April 16, 2010 at 6:32 pm (cool things i've found) (, , )

Dominic Deville of Lucerne, Switzerland, has set up an Evil Clown Service, perfect for the kid who has everything.

For the tiniest of fees, Dominic will a) contact the victim to tell them they’re being watched, and then b) text and call them, telling them that at some point during the next 7 days, they will have a cake smashed in their face.  Then the clown shows up, and if you manage to spot him before he cakefaces you, you get the cake as a present.

“It’s all in fun and if at any point the kids get scared or their parents are concerned we stop right there. But most kids absolutely love being scared senseless,” explained clown Dominic.

Grammar Nerdery at its best

April 15, 2010 at 12:31 pm (science) (, )

I was discussing with a friend the other night how much more screwed lazy readers and writers are these days, now that society kinda requires you to be able to type, spell, and read constantly.  I rather like the idea that my lifelong obsession with grammar is now finally being rewarded, while Ms. I’m Too Cool to Spell Correctly looks like a moron on her FB page.  Allie at Hyperbole and a Half agrees.  She became so enraged with a specific spelling mistake she saw constantly that she decided to do something cute and memorable about it.  I give you The Alot.

Hi gang! Sorry I’ve been a bit less Gynomitey this week, lots of fun and crazy things are going on, some of which involve cast members of Saved By the Bell, plus I’ve been working on a few new projects.   In the meantime, here are a couple of fun links for you.

This is my friend Lauren’s site, Fix My Facebook, and a few months ago she and I traded questions, so here’s her answering a question someone wrote to Ask Gynomite about Facebook etiquette.

This is what you do if you have to jump out of a moving vehicle.

This is this week’s Guyspeak/Girlspeak- can I stop my man from cheating?

Wingers- the original potato wing snack!

April 14, 2010 at 6:28 am (food) ()

Walking home the other day, Kumail spotted something in the window of a newly-opened deli that he insisted we buy.  What was it?  Why of course, it was Wingers, the Fiery Buffalo Bleu snack!

From the website:

This is the real deal. Fiery Buffalo Bleu rates a 5 on the Heat Index for a reason – but don’t worry, there’s a hint of bleu cheese dip cooked right into that authentic Buffalo Wing flavor. It’s cool. In fact, it’s just cool enough to let you plow through a nice bowlful.

These things are genius for several reasons, one because they’re hollow (the fine Wingers people understood that we couldn’t handle that much wing flavor), two because you really can taste the blue cheese, and three because they are in the shape of drumsticks, not wings.

Not a wing, people.

But they are delicious and not that terrible for you, so check them out today! (Wingers people, call me and I’ll give you the address where you can send all my free Wingers)

Remember how funny it was when Steve Carrell shouted “Kelly Clarkson” in 40 Year Old Virgin?

April 11, 2010 at 3:05 pm (movies) (, , )

You know who else thought it was funny?  The people who made the sure-to-be-horrible movie Furry Vengeance, starring Brendan Fraser as (take it away Wikipedia!) “a real estate developer who faces off with a group of angry animals, led by a raccoon, when one of his housing developments encroaches too far into the animal’s wilderness”.
