Beyond…
And now, for the exciting conclusion of our trip to Seattle, Portland, and Iowa!
When we last left our heroes, they were driving to Portland in the rain in a PT Cruiser. What on earth could top that?!
We woke up to this view in our hotel in Portland, which was lovely. It looks a bit like a Stephen King story.
This place should have been way cooler than just a regular convenience store.
We ate at PokPok, a very popular Vietnamese restaurant in Portland, and it lived up to every expectation. Eat there.
Then we went to Powell's, the largest bookstore in the world. (It is really big)
Where I finally found a copy of the manga I adapted. Look, it's my name! (And Kumail's)
After that it started raining, so we retired back to our hotel, which was warm and cozy and awesome. We ate food, watched an episode of Dr. Who, and went to sleep. Then, 5am flight!
Hey watch it Kumail, the moving sidewalk is ending!
And then we were in Iowa, for Kumail's show at his alma mater, Grinnell. It's a lovely school where I literally got choked on a butterfly while walking around, leading to that common expression "We're choking on butterflies over here!" This is the dorm TV lounge where Kumail saw X-Files for the first time.
After the show we went to sleep in a terrifying bed and breakfast and woke up for the long trek home, which I had no energy to memorialize with pictures. Home now! Hooray!

So many fond memories of The X-Files in that lounge. Our first two years there were the last two that the show was solidly good.
