Here is a charming little article about lost words of the English language to promote a book called I Never Knew There Was a Word for It. Apparently, the trend to put words together “celebutante” “blacktress”- comes from Through the Looking Glass, and is called a portmanteau. The more you know!

This is a great piece at Sociological Images about “clowning postures” for women in advertising. I think about this every time I see a starlet on the red carpet with her feet crossed and slouched over, which is done under the guise of looking thinner. A must read.
