Gynomite’s Reading Room!
A new trailer for Girls, a show I’m very very excited about.
A father angrily storms into Target to complain that his teenage daughter was being mailed coupons for baby stuff, but days later he is forced to apologize when his daughter was, in fact, pregnant. How did Target know his daughter was pregnant? From the combination of items she purchased from them. For extra credit, here’s a whole NYT article about how companies track your purchases. Fascinating, creepy stuff. I know when I was in school for psychology, my fellow students and I made a pact to never use our powers for evil, i.e., marketing psychology. It feels exploitative.
A Parks and Rec recap from me at Vulture!

The target purchase tracking is a lot like the all seeing machine that predicts crime and terrorist attacks in that new tv show Person of Interest. Scary….
