Hmm. I really dig the weird, dark aesthetic of Shakespeare’s Sister. But Lisa Loeb’s song is so much catchier. Add to that her gelfling-like cuteness, and i have to go with Lisa. Much to my the dismay of my inner 16-year-old self, i like the one that is more pop than goth.
I’m voting for Shakespear’s Sister…that song felt so powerful at the time. I even bought the sheet music back then, although it doesn’t translate well to piano. If there was a good video for it that I could post here however, I’d nominate Belly’s song Stay as the greatest of the stay songs from that period.
