Gynomite’s Reading Room!

The best parts of Jerry Seinfeld’s AMA!

This is a must see: Tig Notaro’s new webseries for Entertainment Weekly, Up Close with Tig Notaro.

This is an amazing essay in Esquire about how the Internet has ruined reporting.

Disney Princess themed lingerie because of course it exists.

Dick Clark: Not so fond of the gays.

I disagree with a lot (A LOT) of what this post has to say, because it seems to be fighting fire with name-calling/shaming/shitting on fire (come on, is it a good idea to write a post where you shame Jezebel for mental illness shaming, and then call Jezebel writers sociopaths?), but I do think this line rings true:

These days, feminism is more about hurt feelings and trigger warnings, blogs about rape jokes, ironic racism, and fat shaming. It used to be about the pill and the right to be a female priest. Now it’s about outrage and clickbait.

The link to the TLG article isn’t working – it is

And I totally agree – one of my new year’s resolutions is to avoid outrage porn from either the left or right. I was particularly disgusted that a badly-written and badly-argued article about whether Lordes was racist on Feministing got picked up by a ton of blogs and news sites. There is so much misplaced outrage, and it is not a good look. Especially since there is so much actual racism and misogyny in this country that people could be getting mad about. But ya gotta get those clicks, right?
