I used to read this blog a lot called Baruchito’s Home Cage. It was originally about a hamster named Baruchito and his girlfriend Julia, and I loved it.
Meet Baru, or Baruchito.
Baru was a Syrian hamster, and he lived in Tokyo. He unfortunately passed away in 2006, but he’s become the patriarch of this lovely hamster dynasty. His girlfriends, children, grandchildren, etc all written about in first person from the hamsters perspective. Like this:
“Usually I like to get lots of tissue paper and build a big nest to sleep. But the summer here is very hot and I can’t sleep well on the nest. These days I like to sleep on my back directly over my cage bedding.”
I just went through Baru’s old posts to see how people have responded, continuing in my tradition of being obsessed with cute blog comments. I found that they fall into a few distinct categories.
